The Maiduguri based Arik air plane bound
for Abuja was put in a stay of bedlam and chaos at the suspicion of a
suicide bomber on board the flight. A passenger, Mallam Aminu Galadima,
stood up mid-air and shouted ‘Allah Akbar’ (God is great). Suspecting
that he was a member of the feared insurgent group, Boko Haram,
passengers on board the flight to scramble for the safety of their lives
and property.Airport officials who had a prior knowledge of Mallam Galadima rushed to apprehend and search him. Nothing was found on him after a thorough search and he was taken into custody by the SSS to ascertain the state of his mental health. The State Security Service (SSS), Ministry of Aviation and Arik issued different statements, dismissing rumours that the plane was about to be bombed and assured the public of safety.
