BEVERLY HILLS, January 18, (THEWILL) – Seven-time Nigerian champions, Enyimba FC were attacked by armed robbers on Monday afternoon as they travelled to Kaduna for the 2016 NPFL Super Four tounament.
The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and the club confirmed the incident which happened in Okene, Kogi State, in the central part of Nigeria.
Players and officials of the People's Elephant were also robbed of their valuables while “there were no injuries during this unfortunate incident,” they disclosed.
“We can confirm that our team's bus was attacked by armed robbers this afternoon in Okene, Kogi State on our way to Kaduna for the SuperFour.
“Thankfully, there were no injuries during this unfortunate incident. Players and officials were however stripped of all valuables,” Enyimba stated on Monday.
Kogi State was the same area where former Nigerian champions Kano Pillars were robbed in March 2015 while travelling to Owerri for their opening league game of last season.
